A study on vehicle Noise Emission Modelling: Correlation with air pollutant emissions, impact of kinematic variables and critical hotspots

This work proposes a methodology suitable for analysing the sound power levels (Lw), and carbon dioxide (CO2) nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions along travel, consequentially assessing related critical hotspots. The estimation of noise pollutant from six vehicles driven three different routes (one National Road two highways) was conducted, in combined way, through seven Noise Emissions Models (NEMs) Vehicle Specific Power (VSP) methodology, respectively. inputs required by models (namely, vehicle speed acceleration road grade) were extrapolated On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system Global Positioning System (GPS) data recorded during monitoring campaigns. specificities each model analysed, role played kinematic variables exhaust assessment highlighted. Results show that all tested NEMs estimated higher on highways, while VSP predicted Road. happens because is main input variable NEMs, has an impact low-speed range (below 50 km/h).
